6 Eggs Old

Will asked why Kira grew from "1,2,3,4,5,6 months" instead of "oonnee, twwooo, threeee, fourrr, fiiiive". I knew he was asking why she could have passed him and made it to SIX months so fast when he was still only FIVE years old.

So I explained the difference between months and years and told him there are 12 months in a year. I told him that Kira has to make it to 7,8,9,10,11,12 months before she'll be ONE year old. I explained that he was 5 years and 9 months and in 3 more months he'll be 6 years. I wasn't sure he was following, so I gave him a visual...

We talked about how an egg carton has 12 eggs in it. I told him Kira has 6 eggs in her carton and when she gets 12 eggs then she'll be 1 year old because there are 12 months in a year. He got it.

Wean Me Gently

Wean Me Gently

I know I look so big to you,
Maybe I seem too big for the needs I have.
But no matter how big we get,
We still have needs that are important to us.
I know that our relationship is growing and changing,
But I still need you.
I need your warmth and closeness,
Especially at the end of the day
When we snuggle up in bed.
Please don't get too busy for us to nurse.
I know you think I can be patient,
Or find something to take the place of a nursing;
A book, a glass of something,
But nothing can take your place when I need you.
Sometimes just cuddling with you,
Having you near me is enough.
I guess I am growing and becoming independent,
But please be there.
This bond we have is so strong and so important to me,
Please don't break it abruptly.
Wean me gently, because I am your mother,
and my heart is tender.

Obama

I'm watching the Inaugural Celebration while Will is playing in the living room...

Will: "I think you have a tear in that eye"
Me: "I do"

Thanks Dad!

We needed a new front door. Dad to the Rescue!

The garage door broke. Dad to the Rescue!

The tub won't drain. Dad to the Rescue!

We have nothing to eat or someone is sick. Dad to the Rescue with some hot soup made from fresh veggies straight from the Farmer's Market. Yum! Even William eats "Grandpa's Soup".

We need something to do after work and drop by announced and starving to death...Dad to the Rescue with apples peeled in a spiral, carrots cut at an angle, blueberry juice, sweet potato smoothies, yogurt, rice and SOUP.

Kira has excema. Dad to the Rescue with oil.

Kira poops all over the place and the diaper bag is at home...Dad to the rescue with - was it a T-shirt or towel? I can't remember. Regardless - Dad to the Rescue!

I need to run Will to the doctor on Christmas Eve and am about to have a breakdown having to deal with breathing problems, cleaning the house and wrapping gifts. I really don't want to haul the baby in too...Dad to the Rescue to babysit before cooking the entire meal!

Jeff's car doesn't start because he left it out in the freezing cold. Will needs to get to school, Kira to daycare and Jeff to work - Dad to the Rescue to drop off Will at school and jump Jeff's car!

And today...the school nurse calls me at work to come and pick up William. As we leave the school I put the car into reverse and then it kills. I can't get it to start and can't get my keys out. I know it's not the cold because I park in a wonderful heated underground parking ramp. I know it is something mechanical or simple like maybe my steering wheel is locked but I can't figure it out. CALL DAD. 5 minutes later - Dad to the Rescue! Apparently it was still in Reverse and can only be started in Park. Who knew!? I'm no mechanic! DAD TO THE RESCUE!

THANKS Dad!
